"Your Trip Around the Sun"
The New Birthday Song

Your Trip Around the Sun
The presentation of the song on October 26th, 1997, is a gift from Ohio University and "the people of Athens" (on the occasion of our Bicentennial) to First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton on her 50th birthday.

The recording was made on October 6th by the LARK QUARTET, THE LOCAL GIRLS trio, and the THE OHIO UNIVERSITY CHAMBER SINGERS at Ohio University.

The song was arranged in three-part harmony by The Local Girls; arranged for voice and string quartet by C. Scott Smith; conducted by Dr. Peter Jarjisian

Although the new birthday song, "Your Trip Around the Sun," was not written for Hillary Rodham Clinton, it seemed appropriate to present the premier recording of the song to her because her fiftieth birthday falls on October 26th, the same weekend as our Bicentennial Ball.

The recording of the song and its presentation over the Internet are very much a town/gown effort. It is our modest way of saying "thank you" to Ms. Rodham Clinton for sharing herself with Athens and Ohio University.

Lyrics

Here's wishing you the happiest of birthdays...

Here's wishing you a rewarding year of fun...

Here's wishing you good health, and wealth, and always...

Joy and love and laughter on your trip around the sun.
